When we thought the farthest a traveller can go is the Artic or Antarctica ,a billionaire from California named Dennis Tito travelled to space in a space shuttle for eight days and become the world’s first space tourist.
That wad in the year of 2001 and it was the starting of what now is a fast growing industry,i.e. space tourism.
Space tourism is simply for entertainment .
Space is now not left for only astronauts to explore but even common man can travel to it.
In 1997 , a report was published by NASA stating that the space trips for private citizens could become a business but the only concern then being the safety and development of a reusable launch vehicle for space tourism.
By filling out an application process which can takes 1-2 years and then by paying a fare which ranges from U$$ 200,000 to 250,000 the company offers space tourism services, a common man can take a tour of the space.
However,the increase in popularity and demand for such space trips will surely bring down the price. Many famous companies in this field are: Virgin Galactic, HobbySpace,Space Tourism Society, Space Adventures,XCOR Aerospace and Space Future etc.
Russia has gone one step ahead, Russia's Orbital Technologies has announced the very first hotel in space that will come up in 2016 hoping to make a space tourism hub and ensuring private spaceflight is here to stay.But there are some concerns too about the environmental effects brought on by the commercialization of space.
The acceleration of global warming and the depletion of ozone layer are two of such concerns. A study that was funded by NASA and The Aerospace Corporation found that the release of hybrid rockets for space tourism from a single location would release tonnes of black carbon into the stratosphere.
